Board directors, councillors and committee members need to know their roles and responsibilities so they can perform well and with confidence. Associations Forum's Board Governance presentation is practical in approach, based on extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector and delivered to a face-to-face meeting of the Governing Board / Management Committee
The session covers:1. Corporate governance2. Terminology, law, tax status3. Board role, duties, accountability responsibility4. Key documents and Constitution 5. Members, governance, management6. Operations of the board7. Improving Board performance
While general comment is made about different organisational structures, focus is placed on the target organisation and the specific requirements of its legislation e.g. Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld). Emphasis is placed on ensuring committee members understand their obligations and the difference between governance and management.
